Before Buying
-There are many things that go into purchasing a floor.

The first and most important is the fact that this is a big investment.
If maintained and installed properly a hardwood floor can last a lifetime.
There is no need to rush into a decision.

-Many types of flooring are available

Solid 3/4" hardwood is the traditional form and is the most commonly used
when installing over a wood subfloor. It adds value to the home because it is a permanent
home improvement. You have the ability to refinish this type of floor.
This type of floor is nailed down to the subfloor.

Engineered hardwood is available if you would like install over a concrete subfloor or below grade.
These types of products can be glued down or installed in a floating method.
These are still real wood products, they are just constructed in such a way that they will be less affected by moisture.

Laminate flooring is a very durable product that is installed in a floating lock together method.
It is usually installed in basements and higher traffic areas such as kitchens or kids play rooms.

-Before Installation

All wood and laminate products need to be acclimated. They should be stored in a heated/air-conditioned section of the house for at least 3 full days prior to installation.

Subfloors should be tested for moisture before installtion.
